An Embarrassing Experiment

Soooo, as a Bzzagent, I was assigned the job of making a video showing the absorbance of Always Infinity Pads. Yeah, it didn't go as expected BUT they are a great product. I'm glad they gave me a free sample. Here's the link to the experiment video. Enjoy.

Burt's Bees

My lastest freebie through Bzzagent is Burt's Bees facial cleanser for Sensitive Skin. They have a whole line of sensitive skin products that boast cotton as a main ingredient. I'm not sensitive to cosmetic products but it smells good. :)

Well Dressed Gal

Last night was a riot! 14 ladies in my livingroom trying clothes on and laughing uproariously. (Is that a word?) I do this twice a year and it's a blast. I host a free clothing exchange and its so simple that I'm shocked more don't do it. Everyone brings whatever clothes they have that they don't want anymore - purses, shoes, jewellery are also brought. Everything gets dumped in the middle of the floor and on the count of three the madness begins. The only rule is that you have to try it on before leaving so that if it isn't right for you someone else can have it. I came away with a number of great pieces, cleaned out my own closets and had a hoot.

It's funny to see different personalities shine through. Everyone is very VERY polite and gracious and for all the times I've done this there hasn't been a single fight. But, I get a kick out of watching the shy ladies deal with the sight of everyone else in their underoos. My sisters and I are not what you would call shy so it's fun for me to see even the shyest of gal overcoming her insecurities and strip down with the rest of us.

Plan your own! You'll love it - who doesn't love free clothes?

Jan book review

I chose "Alienation A C.H.A.O.S. Novel" By Jon S. Lewis knowing that it was meant for young teens and with my oldest son in mind. It was your typical youth fictional novel in that the teen saves the world even though he's surrounded by adults, police, military etc. It's the second novel in the series and admittedly I didn't read the first but I kept waiting for anything resembling a plot at appear. The whole book seemed like one long segway from novel one to novel three. Perhaps I missed something given that I'm not a 13 year old boy. There was nothing in the story that gave me pause, nothing that would prevent me from handing it over to my children to read. I'm completely at a standstill as to whether to give it my recommendation or not. I feel nothing for or against it therefore I'll say yes to this book for 12 year olds and no for adults. How's that for being non-committal.

BTW, I was given this book free of charge in return for my unbiased opinion.

November Book Review

I really wanted to like this one. Perhaps I had my hopes set too high. Previously I had read "Heaven is For Real" by Todd Burpo and loved it. It was life-changing. I passed it around to all of my friends and they all felt the same way. That's why when "Heaven is For Real - DVD conversaton kit" became available I jumped at the opportunity.

To put it mildly,I kept fast forwarding out of sheer boredom. If you've read the book, don't bother with the DVD. If you haven't read the book, read the book. The DVD was the retelling of Colton Burpo's visit to Heaven during an appendectomy and the visions he saw while there but in a much slooower way than the book. Pity.

BTW, I got my copy for free from Thomas Nelson Publishing in exchange for an honest review. All opinions belong to moi.

Give me a half hour of your life

I stumbled across a short film that is profoundly moving and thought provoking. It isn't something to be watched while there are children in the room though. Take a look at:

Another Women of Faith Shoutout

Okay, so admittedly I don't have anything new to add since I didn't get to use the free tickets to the Women of Faith conference BUT I had promised that I would blog before AND after the event. And since I want them to pick me again next time, (if there ever is a next time) I'm going to remind everyone how wonderfully uplifting Women of Faith is.
In the summer I went to a friend's cottage with a couple of ladies for a weekend retreat. We spent most of the time watching W.O.F videos - laughing and crying. If you can't get to a conference, at least get your hands on a copy of some of there speakers. You'll be glad you did.

Oh by the way, Happy Belated Thanksgiving!
